I am (and was) always interested in "man-machine" interfaces. Ok, I
was born in "Kraftwerk-country"...
There are lot of things I think the Serge system tops any other system
(maybe with the exception of Buchla):
- lightweight design
- colour coded (educational and beautiful) sockets (and knobs if you
like)
- good compromise of density and features (compared to 3 HE and 5 HE)
- very nice (simple but smart) knobs with scaling that frees you form
numbering
...
The old Serge systems (like the one I have) were often mounted in very
flat wooden cases so portability was an easy task.
When I bought my Buchla "boat" I immediately felt how smart that
design was...actually the best design of a synth case I have EVER seen!
A few days ago I went to my metal worker with the Buchla boat in my
hands and asked him to make a "duplicate" in a silver design.
2 days later I was overwhelmed by the beauty of that metal piece.
I put some photos in a new folder I made in the photos section (Serge
Boat) for your viewing pleasure.
Have fun if you have...
