Interfacing pt. 1: Audio Siganls

2008-02-22 by Harold Tique

The middle section is fixed as an integral component of the "M-
boat's rigging for low-noise conditioning and stable distribution of
the one thing central to all fine systems, "excellent quality power
and solid ground referencing".

It's easy to overlook the critical importance of the power and
grounding design so carefully considered in the STS incarnations, as
it "doesn't do anything that I want".

This is the 'keel' of any fine craft, whether it be a single
panel "M-boat" Mini-Synth or
a 35+ panel leviathan space liner such as John Duval's
infamous "Fist of God" Mega-System,
thus the balance point of which keeps the electron flow of the
muse's ship in trimmed control,
stable against the weathering winds of sound and noise.

Interfacing to the outside world, especially audio signal I/O, is
best handled with dedicated
buffer/distribution line amplifiers such as the STS
designed "Differential Servo-Balanced Audio Line Driver and the
complementary creation, the "Differential Balanced Input Buffer".

These active audiophile grade precision matched cells feature your
choice of Military gold contact
T-R-S Switchcraft™ 1/4" phone jacks, Neutrik™ 3-pin gold 'XLR' style
connectors or ADC 'TT/Bantam' Long Frame Telephone style connectors
and can drive 600 ohm loads with a linear power bandwidth extending
from DC thru 200 Khz to +26 Dbm!

When mounted on the back or top of a "M-boat or Chassis [ROX] (SHOP
series), true interfacing is now a possibility. If you're going to
spend your time to setup, patch-up, and make a record, do it right!
