Re: TKB Question

2006-04-07 by davevosh@aol.com

i`ll take a look at what tkb doc`s i have and try to verify -
john,
i took a quick look at my assembly and module doc`s from `79 and i didn`t see a specific mention of the gate outs being diode isolated and i note that serge did sometimes miss that as shown by a problem that can occur in older dsg`s where the end pulse out isn`t diode limited / "clamped" and can cause i.c. failure - ? - speculation on my part, anyone know for sure ?
also, using the module parts sheet for the tkb, i note that it doesn`t mention any diodes and i have this suspicion that any serge p.c. board of the time, would have run the diode`s, *if there* "freestanding" (maybe soldered to the banana jack after installation and the via jumper, from the diode to p.c. board point). again, speculation on my part, does anyone know for sure ?
one last one - the 1982 one page "modifications for the serge" catalog add-on specifically mentions a "tkbm" - "pulse output mod with logic buffer" without specifying what it is - possibly gate out isolation added at a later point in the tkb`s lifecycle ?
best,
dave
