My UAP (also part of an Animal panel) behaves identically to yours.
This, I believe, is a function of the Serge "equal-power" panning
versus the linear panning we're generally accustomed to. Perhaps
some of the more experienced members can shed more light on why the
equal-power approach (which I think is designed to keep loudness the
same when at dead center as when panned right or left) causes each
sound to drop at its opposing 3/9 o'clock mark.
