It's possible that Michael paid for it, but I always assumed it was
Kevin's. That was before I managed the business. He assembled it,
and I think Chas Smith did the welding for the custom frame. It was
built during the time that the factory worked out of the Hollywood
loft.
Speaking of which, if you ever see a bad old movie called the Mod Squad, a
movie made after the TV series, there's a scene where they climb up some stairs
in the back of a three story brick building to enter an apartment. Those
exterior shots were the rear of the Serge shop. The interiors in the movie
were shot somewhere else.
