hmm.

which version of the jupiter 8 did you have ?
i had the very early one..
not the 8A

and it had no buzz at all, maybe this was something
that came after a revision.

Mine was a lovely instrument
no filter buzz at all..

maybe worth checking out another JP8 at some point ?

Regards

Chris

A 'gay' synth? What are you people in the land of the midnight sun
smoking/drinking? That 200 proof Polish vodka ('Polmos')? Send me a
bottle!!

BTW, the JP-6 is good (can't speak to the MKS-80), but the JP-8 is quite
different in character - more 'lush', not as nasal or 'stringy'. I had 'em
both, at the same time, $700US each. Back when 'analogue' meant 'crappy old
technology', hehe.

Worth hunting up an 8, but count on maintenance from a good tech every 3
years or so. The US power supply tended to run hot, fall out of calibration
(?) and cause a variety of flaky behavior. And the fake 'edit' message from
contamination in the sliders (my bad - we smoked around it constantly).

i think i had the second version with the dcb .
it wasnt an unpleasant buzz, pretty warm and fuzzy, but even the bass had it
when you opened up the filter a bit.
its one of those things that you oly hear when you know its there and after
a while it becomes a bit annoying, just like a cs synth has that typical cs
sawtooth nasal-like quality, which i like very much.
its probably that im more fond of the cs sounds than the fuzzyness of the
jupiter, but besides that the jupiter 8 is a great synth dont get me wrong,
i regret having to sell it.

i especially liked it when you had a drum pattern or a number of them play
the jup8, makes the most weird symphonies i ever had come out of a synth.
