The character of it's filters is closer to Sequential than to ARP or Moog,
but the NM really isn't great at VA. It sounds like a wet fly next to a real
analog. It's really cool for digital manglements though :-))

Wow! That sounds sick! Maybe I'll look into that. I want to get rid of
my MKS80 because I believe its a mediocre synth, considering its price.
Maybe it it was in the 400-500 range I would think different. I'm sure if I
had the mpg-80 to go with it I'd keep it, but that costs something like
$700!! Thats out of hand.
Without the mpg, the mks sounds very "dco-ish" to me.

Well the JX8P above is a DCO synth! It's got the same filter as the MKS80
on rev 5s I believe. Have you looked into a software editor for the MKS80?
Or maybe get a Doepfer Drehbank? With 64 knobs it does a good job at making
my MKS70 more hands-on, and you can use it on other things.

Did you hear what CoolColJ produced when he had his MKS80 (armed with
SoundDiver)? He's got the mp3s up here:
