Subject: [AH] Jupiter 4 for sale/swap

Hey list,

I've got a Jupiter 4 here that i bought not so long ago. I'm not
really into keyboard synths.... well, if i'm honest, i'm not motivated
to learn how to play it. i like the feel of step sequencers better.
also, the music i'm working on (breaky drum n bass with acid) lends
itself towards step sequenced synths more than key synths (IMHO of
course). Bottom line is, I have a bit gear that I can't use and I want
to swap it for something I can.

So, I'd like to swap it for a MIDI'd MC 202, or a Korg EA-1, or an old
FR 777. I could include some cash also, or if you have any other
offers, just email me. I'm open to any suggestions... I want a
sequencer synth in the 303 style without the 303's limitations. Also,
it must be MIDI... i know analoguers are big on CV/Gate but i own too
much MIDI gear to bother with it. :P

If you don't have any gear that you want to swap, it's for sale at
$900 AUSTRALIAN. this is negotiable, just email me in private and
discuss it with me. I'm open to gear/cash combinations.

Also, I'm in Perth, Western Australia... so I think that I'm going to
have to limit this to Australia. The Jupiter 4 is big and heavy. :)

Condition of Jupiter 4 : 1 osc card need recalibrating, but the mono
mode sounds huge. absolutely massive. check out the VSE for more info
about the synth (www.vintagesynth.com). There are some scratches on
the wood sides, however its only cosmetic. Everything (all the knobs
and sliders) work OK, although I've never seen the manual, and don't
really know heaps about analogues, so I don't know how to set up some
of the functions. My lack of knowledge, and lack of motivation for
this instrument are the things making me sell it... plus I'm sick of
using VST and Fruityloops for my synth loops when i have this machine
sitting unused right next to me.

Please email me if you have any questions. I dont have any references
from this group, but I'm fine to talk to you on the phone, and email,
and give you my street address and contact details. I have some
positive feedback on www.sold.com.au under the user "vindaloo_es1".

Thank you very much, and cheers for the BW.

im hearing ya man ..i decided to buy a jp4 from David Daydodge off this list

and am getting the following mods done as i am wanting to play less and
sequence more..

individual outputs * 4 (1 per voice)
cv/gate ins * 4 (1 per voice)
cv/gateouts (which are also the arpegiator outs) * 4 (1 per voice)

this allows me to get the best of both worlds...its also already had some
mods done to it to make the oscillators more stable and lower the noise for
each voice...i cant wait!! this will be my first modded synth..should be
fun...peace

There was a Jupiter 4 sitting in a dealer's store for the last
15 years with $450AU on it. It was in reasonable condition,
everything worked but was covered in dust. The fact that
even at $450 it wasn't a fast mover I think says something
about their relevant value. There was a Jupiter 8 at another
dealer for only $1100AU! (and that went within about 3 weeks)

and what´s that all about anyway? $450AU is a bloody steal for a JP4, which
in my humble opinion has a lot more character than a lot of the other more
pricey Rolands (Juno106, JX8P, JP6 etc). Limited as it may be the JP4 always

sounds good without even trying. A very, very underrated synth. What it
lacks in oscillator power and to an extent modulationwise it compensates by
having *that* filter and chorusing.
There are evidently a whole bunch of synthesists out there that should have
their hearing checked.

sure enough, although I wouldn´t exactly call the swedish currency strong. A

light blow would knock us out cold, believe me. ;-)
When I converted it looked cheap that´s all, but then again I´m used to the
european market that could be likened to a bloodsucking gang of bandits
doing business...I´m not better than the next person.

I suppose this is a great philosophy from one angle, but turn it around and
it means no fresh blood to your local market assuming that this is not a
oneway phenomenon. If you give something out, something else(perhaps even
better) will come back to you.
Some of my favourite things in the studio would be impossible for me to own
if everyone kept it within their community. Just today I got that lovely
Variophon from Germany in the mail. I doubt it if there is another one in
Sweden..?

and what a fine collection we have here at AH!
