I don't know what's going on but my jupiter6 is stuck in omni mode! I just
got the unit recently and when hooking it up to midi I realized it was
receiving on all channels. Also, I can't access both timbres in split mode
via midi. I was told that it is a bitimbral synth and the first sound can be
accessed via midi channel1 and the second can be accessed via channel2. I
can't do this on mine. Do i have an older version of the jp6. Please help
me, I need to know if I can get this thing fixed or if there is some setting
I can enable to make it work with omni off and have access to both timbres
individually via midi.

Please email your responses to:

Thank you

Hi Neal,

depending wich software revision you have, the JP-6 will power up in Omni
mode. To select Poly mode, you press and hold the tune button while pressing
the patch select buttons 1-8 ( or patch group 2, patch select 1-8 for
channel 9-16 ). When using the JP in split mode it will recieve on two
channels, the one you choose ( upper ) and +1 for lower.

Good luck,

and if you don't have the latest rev try this trick: either send a midi mode

change cc message for omni off poly on mode 3 (cc 124 i think) or do this:
plug a midi cable from the jp6 out to the in and hit a 4 note chord- voila,
omni off mode.
i have sequence templates where the cc is automatically sent, cos it always
repowers on in omni on mode.
this is the trick for the middle rev, where it can only work on channel 1
(and 2 for splits) keep in mind that even though it now it is in omni off
it will still always receive midi channel 1 and 2 due to its split
implementation.

getting the latest rev is a $150 eprom and then $100 install- to save $250 i

just send that midi cc everyday...

start a new sequence
create a continuous controller-
i use performer at work, and the manual calls this "create continuous data"
i use a mc80 at home and in microscope editing i can "create a midi event"
you need to use cc 124 or 125 i think, this will change the jupiter midi
receive mode
save the sequence and this will be a template

i don't know the specifics of generating ccs on cubase but i'm sure there's
a cubase list out there- check yahoogroups

correct
