I have never purchased a hard case for any of my
equipment but I now want to get one for my jupiter 6.
I don't know where to begin looking. Does anyone have
the perfect specs of size I should be looking for? How
about brands? I would like to find a used case. Cheap
is the keyword here. If you are going to offer to sell
one to me, I'm going to ask about your credentials.

As AHMW2000 attendees have discovered, I'm kinda partial to Anvil cases;
they're not cheap but they're the ultimate in protection. But not everybody
needs flight cases with steel ball corners, recessed latches and handles,
reinforced aluminum edging, and 3/8" vinyl plated plywood with the color of
your choice.

SKB makes a good general size hardshell case for 61/76/88 note keyboards.

Good luck. Not only do they rarely appear, but a used case may be at the
end of its useful life with problems like deteriorating foam, busted
latches/hinges, etc.

Got good carpenter skills? Build a box, slap on some hinges and latches,
buy some foam at the fabric store (used for pillows, same stuff), and yer
done.

Otherwise, you're not going to find cheap on the used market.

I've found that some music stores have piles of used hard cases sitting in
the back somewhere. A year or two ago, I think I posted to this list that
Manny's (NYC) had a bunch of various sizes that they were selling pretty
inexpensively (probably all gone by now). It's worth asking around at local
music stores. Who knows? Just make sure you have accurate dimensions of your
J6 before you go hunting.
