Subject: [AH] Jupiter down, please help

I just installed my encore JP8 midi kit last night after finally
having the time, the right tools, and nerve to cut 2 holes in the back panel
for the midi jacks. After the installation, the keyboard powers
up but only the 2 lfo lights are on. It wont run a warm reset
or a test, can't enter a patch number, no sound?
I rechecked the installation job step by step and all my solder
connections and it looks good.

While I'm waiting to hear back from encore, has
anyone installed this kit and experienced this? Is there some
multi button while pwr'ing up sequence I need to do to get this
thing to come alive?

Help....

thanks in advance,

Bryan

One thing that happened to me when I was installing the JP-8 kit
for the first or second time was that when I was pushing the board
down into the sockets on the JP-8, I inadvertantly pushed too
hard and some of the pins on the Encore board got pushed up and broke
their connections on the Encore circuit board. I was pushing down
hard because these particular sockets in the JP-8 made the Encore board
stand up too tall and I didn't think it was seated correctly. For
that JP-8 I ended up cutting down the Encore pins slightly so that the
JP-8 boards fit back together with the proper clearance.

Other Encore JP-8 kits fit correctly the first time, so I have no
idea why I had problems with that one JP-8/kit combination.
