And certainly, CEM-based synths have a certain "sound" because they use true grounded integrators as opposed to state-variable filters with virtual ground integrators and hence a different phase response. Personally, state-variable filters have too much on an 'edge' for my tastes. But that doesn't mean they are "bad" just "different". Sort of like a clarinet and an oboe.
