Subject: Re: [AH] Jupiter 6 VS CS-60 VS SH-5 hi, << Have been offered these three beasties (Jupiter 6 , CS-60 , SH-5) in a trade and was looking for any recommendation as to which one to pick. >> I have never heard or played the CS series by Yamaha so I can't comment on that. I've never played the Sh-5 either but by looking at it on the net it has a ton of features and I downloaded some mp3s which sounded really nice (filter was good). But let me tell you about the Jupiter 6- this thing can do some tremendous bass. I just got mine expecting to use it for pads and strings but imo it excels at harsh sounds, especially deep thick bass. Pop this in Unison mode and watch out, has thicker bass than my JP-8. I really like this synth...I just got it up and running yesterday (had to buy a power cord) and I've already made 12 different patches! Awesome sync sounds, chunky bass and dark dark synth strings. The filter is perfect for acid. The interface makes it very easy to create patches. Everything is laid out perfectly, plenty of lights and sliders! Its kind of weird because even tho it has more modulation possibilities than the Jup8 it seems easier for me to program...I suppose, when compared to the 8, that knob tweaking sounds better whereas on the 8 the range of sounds is kind of limited so unless your sliders are in the exact position the sound will not be as good. I hope you understand what I mean... Thanks, Shawn shawnclear@...
