I use this method for the JP-8:

Remove the original cover for the DCB port.
(If DCB is installed it has to be removed anyway)
Make a new cover plate with a hole for a 9-pin D socket.
(Or use a ready made cover plate from a PC)
Make an adapter from a 9-pin D plug  to female Din (midi) -plugs.
Fasten the original cover plate inside the JP in case someone want to
restore it to "original" in the future.
