Hello, I'm running Leopard. A quick question. What is the application QTR Curve View used for? Thanks Joel Conison

Hi Joel, It's mainly for people designing their own curves/profiles. If you Open one of the .quad files under /Library/Printers/QTR/quadtone/... you'll see how the inks are being used. If you are simply a regular user of existing profiles it's not much more that just mildly interesting. Roy

Hi Roy, No, I like to understand the software I'm using. Even though I Hahn. Photo Rag is my paper of choice there are other fine papers out there & I need to build curves that weren't included. So I went through the steps of building one for the Hahnemuhl. Made an ink descriptor file, dropped it into Drop Quad Profile, printed the 21 step gary scale, read it with the I1, put the density readings into my descriptor file (linearize), & dropped it into the Drop- Quad-Profile & it created a Hahn.quad & put it into my profile folder (just like it should). Now, am I missing a step with QTR Curve View application? Thanks, Joel On Mar 24, 2008, at 5:52 PM, Roy Harrington wrote: > Hi Joel, > > It's mainly for people designing their own curves/profiles. Hi Joel, It sounds like you are well on your way. CurveView is only for looking at what you made -- not for actually making the profile. This way you can see the old profile and the new one and see the difference. It's a great way to be curious about the changes you make and the effects they have. Roy

But what is it we're seeing? What do the up and down scale and scale across the bottom mean? Thanks, David. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Roy Harrington" <roy@...> wrote: > > Hi Joel, > > It sounds like you are well on your way. Horizontally you have gray values from white (left) to black (right) -- i.e. the grayscale value in your image. Vertically is how much of each ink that is used at the gray value. Roy

Just installed 2.6.0.0 Win XP. How do I get to the Curve viewer? I can't find it on the GUI nor the program launch, is it a separate utility? Thx Dario

Right click on one of the curves in the curve setup box and you will get a pop-up menu allowing you to view the curve. - Stephen stephen.sbillard.org
