QTR & R1800 not printing K7

QTR & R1800 not printing K7

2007-06-24 by Michael

Hi - I am new to the group. I have a strong photographic background,
but not strong computer skills. New R1800 with with K7 neutral inks
(first set). It was working and I was begining to get the hang of
it. Prints looked good. Then it started feeding the paper thru and
not printing. I tried printing with the Epson print driver and at
first it did the same thing. But then it did begin printing with the
Epson driver, but it would not print with the QTR. I called Epson and
they had me check out the printer and the fire wire cable. Everthing
checked out okay. I tried using the QTR again and it still sent the
paper thru without printing. Piezography Jeff (Inkjet Mall) said it
could be the fire wire cable and suggested using a usb. With the usb
it does print with the Epson print driver but now in the QTR on the
bottom right corner it says "not monitoring" and it does nothing. I'm
lost, can anyone help. I've spent hours and gotten no where.
  Thanks Michael G

Michael -

I have an R1800, using QTR and K7 inks.

(1) I have found that firewire with QTR doesn't work very well, and so I'd suggest going back to USB. Some performance hit does occur, but not too bad.

(2) I'm not sure if it is QTR or not, but I do occasionally have the problem of the paper feeding through without printing. Sometimes it takes up to 7 or 8 times through before the printing starts. I'm not sure if this is QTR or the R1800 having issues with the paper stock, because I will also have times when getting the paper to actually catch in the feed may take several attempts, but eventually it does work and is only a minor inconvenience. When the paper feeds without printing, just put it back in to the feed and hit the paper feed button (should be blinking red at this point). I think the "Not Monitoring" has to do with the web update link, not the R1800 (I could be wrong, but I've had this message often, and it never affects printing)

Good luck.

Mike

Michael,

I also had this problem of not printing with my Epson R2400. Sometimes
the paper get thru without printing, even with Epson driver if I
did'nt turned off the printer for a while before a new trial after
using QTR. But it nevermore happens since I have downloaded the last
issue (2.5.1.8).
