When i print on glossy/semi glossy paper its almost like the ink is only on the surface of the paper. When i touch the paper ill get ink all over my fingers? This is not the case when i print on mattepaper or when i print on glossy paper but not using the quadtone rip. Anyone experienced the same??

sounds like you aren't using the right paper and right ink combination. Scott --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "jerkankarlsson" <jerkankarlsson@...> wrote:

I have not experienced that problem with the Epson 2200 and Epson OEM ink cartridges on Ilford Gallery smooth gloss paper. What printer, ink and paper are you using? Maris jerkankarlsson wrote:

Is it possible to import papperprofiles to the Quadtone, like ilfords smoothpearl?

Sounds like the MIS black ink is the problem - try replacing it with Epson OEM black ink and see what happens. I believe that when you print without the RIP, all of the inks are used and combined to create black in most of the gray-to-black areas, and so smudging may well not occur. Does the ink come off even after letting the print dry overnight? Maris jerkankarlsson wrote:

Not AFAIK, but Roy may have some suggestions. Maris jerkankarlsson wrote: > Is it possible to import papperprofiles to the Quadtone, like ilfords > smoothpearl?

It may be you are flooding the paper with too much ink. If that is what is happening some of the ink will be on top and can rub off. Try reducing the boost setting on Qtr for the black. Cut it back by 75% and see if that works. Regards Duane

I just created the same problem on a color image on Ilford Smooth Pearl late last night by forgetting to switch the Eboni (Matte) Black for Photo Black. I saw it right away with the gloss diferential last night and sure enough after reading your post I rubbed a finger across a black area and it smudged to beat the band. I'm sure the semiglossy will have the same problem

Everyone who posted here has some interesting suggestions, but the issue comes down to the ink selection in QTR and the fact that you are using an R1800 printer. The default (and only profiles) for the R1800 in QTR are for Matte paper so they use the Matte black ink. You are printing on glossy paper and your printer has a gloss black. You need to utilize that black. What I had to do was to create a new profile that uses the gloss black instead of the matte black. You also have to adjust the use of the magenta or the print comes out green--which is what we're all trying to escape by using QTR. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "jerkankarlsson" <jerkankarlsson@...> wrote:
