can't install curves using quadtone rip

can't install curves using quadtone rip

2006-06-16 by jyouttnyc

hello guys

yes i am having problems getting started. first i am using osx 10.2.8,
why you ask because i don't want to learn tiger. i have a g4,1 ghtz
and lots of memory in computer. the memory in my head seems to be the
problem.

i am using the quad piezotone v6.0.4 with a selenium ink set on a 1280
epson.

i have downloaded quad-tone rip v2.4, along with esp ghost-script and
gimp-print and installed them.

it's taken me awhile to find the paper and ink profiles but they are
installed in my libary>colorsync>profiles and show up in photoshop
view>custom>profiles menu.

when i went to print my first picture i couldn't select a ink tone in
either of the drop down selections >none< was the only choice. the
print was way too dark. the tone selection was 100% with 'none' in the
curve selection.

i've reread the basic tutorial and the basic user guide and and my
head hurts for thinking.

so any ideas what i did wrong and how to fix it?

thank you

Hi Jene,

The basic problem is that there are no profiles for piezo inks on a
1280.

Under CurveDesign/ExampleInks there are some "hints" of what they
might be but they are not at all ready-to-go. Do you have a
densitometer
and want to make your own?

hi there

i somehow knew it wouldn't be a simple process to use these inks but i
was hoping somehow.

yes i do have a densitometer 'colorblind' using os 9, haven't used it
in years but probably still good.

so where do i start, other than the turorials. i see by the stepwedge
i printed i have a long way to go.

i do like the piezo inkset, other than the clogging issues. i am
waiting for the new inks k6 but as with all cone products product
announcements and delivery are two different dates.

are there other inksets as good as cones avaliable for the 1280's
along with profiles?
