QTR Calibration

2005-04-07 by Richard Ayres

The QuadToneRip 2.0 Calibration instructions tell us to use "inkpatern.psd" , a CYMK file,
as our calibration file yet I cannot find it in either the MacOsX or WinXP versions. The
closest file is "Inkseparation.psd", but it is 8bit RGB. I open it without any color
management (leave as is) but it is still RGB.

Where can I find "inkpattern.psd?

Rich,

For QTRgui in the gui go to option>calibration mode. That will open
the file.

Peter;

I did that and still only found inkseparation.tif and inkseparation.psd. To quote from
QuadToneRIP 2.0 Calibration (for MacOSX):

"The Ink Pattern Test Page
The ink pattern test page "inkpattern.psd" is a very special file....The first thing you will
notice upon opening the file is that it is a CMYK file instead of a grayscale. It's very
important that you do NOT color manage this file when you open it or when you print it...."

When I open the "ink separation.xxx" files ...leave as is(don't color manage), they open as
8 bit RGB files, so I don't think these are the files refered to in the calibration instructions.

Am I missing something here?

Sorry about the info. A while back I needed to change from a CMYK special
file to an RGB one. The new file inkseparation.psd is RGB and works exactly
like the old one did.

Thanks for the clarification.

Dear friends
Following the calibration instructions I printed the first Ink pattern with the slider in 100% position. The second print in the 35% position but not change can be appreciate even in the 1% position.
The pattern is very dark and no difference in density after the 40% step.
I will appreciate yours advises.
