RE: Placement and Scale Features Problems

2007-08-31 by Stephen Billard

It is definately a feature request. Scale to Fit was conceived of as
printing the image in as large a size as would fit on the page. Centering
insured that this would be the case. This certainly could change. However,
I'd like a little debate on the forum about the request to see what others
think.

For those of you on the QTR list: What behavior would you like to see? Be
specific like Jeff was.

Subject: Placement and Scale Features Problems

Hi Stephen:

QTRgui 2.5.1.9

I don't know if this falls into a Feature request or bug report or both.

The Placement and Scale features are not working as I expect (want?).

1) Under Tools|Options Auto Orient and Drag and Drop Auto Print are NOT
checked.
2) I set my Orientation. Placement|Centered and Scale|To Fit are not
checked.
3) I drag an image to the open QTRgui window or File|Select Image.
4) The upper top left of the image (relative to the QTRgui thumbnail) is as
shown in the Placement|Top - Left text boxes. [As expected]
5) I can increase or decrease the scale and the image grows or shrinks with
the top left of the image remaining stationary. [As expected].
6) If I check Scale|To Fit, the Placement|Centered box becomes also checked
and the image is scaled up or down properly BUT centered on the short side.
[Unexpected].
7) I can uncheck Placement|Centered and reset the top left image corner to
my liking, BUT these are to my mind wasted steps.

a) I'd like the Placement|Centered and Scale|To Fit functions to be
independent. This is most critical if the Drag and Drop Auto Print and the
Monitored Folders features are checked.

b) I'd also like to be able to set a single fixed top left of each image AND
have QTRgui scale to fit *each* different size image in the que to the
remaining image area whether portrait or landscape orientation is manually
or automatically selected or if am manually drag or use select individual
images OR using Drag and Drop Auto Print or Monitored Folders is used.

c) I'd like to check both Placement|Centered and Scale|To Fit functions and
have QTRgui scale and center each different size image in the que.

c) A lock feature that would lock the Scale % and/or the top left corner
coords to a fixed value for all images in the que (as is done now by
default) would complete the flexible suite of features.

Am I missing something -- am I nuts?
