Re: which inks?

2006-05-03 by davidkeasey

I also have an 1160, and am happily using the MIS (Inksupply.com)
Ultratone Quad inkset. You can achieve a tone that is variable
between very cool and very warm (but not a true sepia) with these
inks. The only problem I find is occasional nozzle clogs, especially
when I have gone several days without doing a print. To keep this
from happening, I try to print "something" (for example a small
ink-separation pattern) every day or two. Perhaps even a daily
nozzle-check would work.

If your printhead clogs up badly, though, it can be a big mess trying
to get it cleaned. And replacement printheads are very difficult to find.

MIS also sells the empty carts and other filling supplies.

I hope you find QTR to fit your printing needs. It's a great program
and well worth the shareware price. There is a bit of a learning
curve, but it's not too bad. If you have a simple reflective
densitometer, creating your own custom curves is a snap. You can do
it by with a good scanner, or even by eyeball, though those take quite
a bit more effort (and luck, too).

Best of luck!
Dave
