Thanks Richard and Norm - Library/ColorSync/Profiles/QTR did the trick. Do either of you know where to put icc profiles in El Capitan so that PS6 sees them. I've had no luck with that s far.

PrintTool nicely organizes the profiles into
different groups, but it doesn't seem to matter if you
move them to Library/ColorSync/Profiles or to the alias to
the QTR folder there. Photoshop seems to ignore it all
together and just lumps all the profiles into a long list
when trying to make a custom soft proof setting.
One thing that might not be obvious
to new people is that you can rename the ICC profile by
opening it in ColorSync Utility and in the second line (1
'desc') change the ASCII Name to something that is
easier to read than whatever the file name was for the
original measurement file (just changing the file name of
the icc profile might not work all the time or show up in
all places).
