Model 12 Mark II

All stock on hand of Model 12 State Variable Vactrol Filters currently
at Analog Haven hve been updated to Mark II (switch and overdrive has
been installed).

I'm gonna mod my Model 12 this weekend.. any tips on drilling a hole
in the faceplate for the switch? My drill's kinda crappy.. those
aluminum plates are soft, right? (I hope)

anywho... great mod! I love the model 12 because it's smooth and
doesn't need to assert itself as making everything sound "filtered",
ya know? now i can go from subtle to rage against the machine? YESSS!
Peter, you've been hanging out with NIN, haven't you?

I'd recommend a center punch to whack a little indentation into the
panel prior to drilling. Keeps the drill bit from sliding around. With
panels that already have hardware mounted, I put something small behind
the panel, like a socket wrench bit so that hammering the punch doesn't
cause more of an indentation than it needs to.

Hey R...
Thanks, but I ended up just drilling directly on the plate.. the
aluminum is soft so the drill bit "bites" pretty quickly and I was
able to get the hole for the switch in the right spot.

Took me about 20 min. to do the mod.. and I'm slow.

Problem is, my filter's not closing all the way down when in overdrive
mode... then I reread the directions.. ahhhh: I used a 1/2 watt
resistor and it's supposed to be 1/4 WATT.

Gonna fix that today.. maybe try a 100 ohm just to see how it sounds..

FUN STUFF. Good job, Pete! Now my Model 12 has Tabasco flavor.

best - bryan

Re: Model 12 Mark II

So I swapped in a 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistor and I'm definitely
sticking with this one - the last quarter or so of the resonance pot
gives self oscillation now, but it yields a tone at just one
frequency. But this way I have plenty of room to play with.

One thing I noticed is that when I switch on the overdrive the
bandpass out level is very low and sounds pinched vs. the other
outputs... but other than that it sounds NICE - in a nasty way.

Re: Model 12 Mark II evil twin

2006-09-09 by (i think you can figure that out)

Even if the Evil Twin was a filter (which I've never said it was!!) I
couldn't comment. Without putting the ET or any other module at risk,
I can say without any hesitation that the Model 12 will be the only
multimode filter in the Plan B lineup for some time.

How's that?

Peter

How does this compare to the Evil Twin? Is it 2 Mark IIs?

Any release date for Milton the monster?
