Model 18 Milton - Update

Model 18 Milton - Update

2005-12-21 by (i think you can figure that out)

GUys,

More work completed on the Model 18, want to give you all an
update:

Things are shaping up nicely and new features are being added
all the time, for instance: under midi control, the Model 18 will
have preset direction patterns availiable thorugh sys commands.
There are sine, triangle and rendom tables which can be called
up as sysex command for operation so much like the MAQ 16/3,
there will be VC pattern presets. This feature wil not be availible
on the faceplate - for that I'm sticking to the VC input.

Also....start saving - the Model 18 will be formatted to accept up
to seven 18A Expander modules - so you can build a 4 bank, 64
step unit if you care to (!), all controllable from a single VC input
on the main unit!

All basic features are presently operational on the microp -
walking 1's (sequential counting), reset, hold, skip step. We've
not yet coded the VC input, but this will be a snap.

More as it happens...

- Peter

Not yet - and it would be really inaccurate to speculate now as the pacing
item, the pots, have not yet been spec'd. But I will say that one of the
main reasons I elected to go digital was the cost consideration there is a
GREAT reduction in part count doing it this way) - we're all gonna also
benefit from all these nifty features which we're throwing in now as they
only requires another line of code here, there, etc. It's so easy, it's
scary.

I will say if the $$ crawls up too high I'm gonna be pissed. I'm trying to
make the core unit affordable as possible. Please let it rest at this. If
I say anything now I may be pulled under the carpet by that later.

That being said - it may also use the narrow knobs on the banks - like one
on Model 15 fine tune. This isn't a cost issue - it's ergonomics. I didn't
not want to sacrifice the forth bank - but I want the instrument to be
usable. The narrow knobs really make a difference and they look sweet -much
like the Serge TBK. They're attractive looking controls.
