Freestyle Rapping For Beginners

Freestyle Rapping For Beginners

2009-08-05 by objuysjrtdem

Freestyle Rapping For Beginners require dedication and patience. Below are a few selected tips that will help you develop your skills on the microphone.
1. Study the art form
Many successful MCs will tell you that they simply did not pick up a mic and start spitting smooth lyrics from day one. Contrary to popular conception most successful rappers study their art form just as any singer song writer would study music and lyricism. Unless you learn about what you are trying to do and know exactly what you can do to improve you will never make i as a successful MC.
2. Improve you mental dictionary
Good free styling requires you to have a large mental dictionary. The more words you have queued up ready to put into your rhymes, the less likely you will be to stutter on the mic while you desperately try to think of a rhyming word that you can fit into your flow. There are proven techniques out there to help you develop your mental dictionary so get out there and use them.
3. Written rap will help your freestyle
This seems counter intuitive however most album rap songs are created through freestyle and then re-worked and tweaked into more fluent lyrics. When working to improve your freestyle skills do not neglect the pen and the paper. By focusing on a few songs and trying to polish them into finished album tracks you will be able to learn and appreciate the subtle differences between the two types of rap. By default you will be able to improve both types by using traits from the other.
4. Get the right beats
Having the right beats to freestyle over is also crucial. You should be looking for something slower and more minimalist than the average backing track. This will place more emphasis on the lyrics while at the same time allow you slightly more time to find the right rhymes and fit them to the beat.
