Heisenberg vs. Wogglebug pros and cons?

Heisenberg vs. Wogglebug pros and cons?

2009-02-19 by Christopher Jacob Recording Device

I'm planning a 12U Modular system and talking to various people about sources of random voltage. I heard from Tony at Make Noise that a Eurorack Wogglebug is in the works and that's got me wondering about the relative merits and setbacks of each. I like the Model 24 because it's range of functions appears excellent and I know very little about the Wogglebug I gather that it's circuitry is pretty close to the original Buchla SOU moduel and that it's got an internal oscillaror and ring modulator which is kind of cool but having access to neither I thought I'd post to the list to get people's opinions on the two modules anyone have both? Anyone who has either want to talk me one way or another? I wish I had room for both in my plans but I'm not certain I will. I can be a real pain living someplace where most people don't even know what a Modular synth is.

Thanks
Chris

The Woggle is originally a Grant Richter (of Wiard) design originally,
I think the Heisenberg and the Doepfer 149-1 are closer to the SOU.
The 149-1 has 4 CV outs to pick from, but needs an external clock.
The Heisenberg has it's own quantized random output from an internal
clock, a stepped output similar to the 149, and a smoothed output that
I think the Woggle has a similar output (the Doepfer does not). The
Heisenberg also has a digital noise out (the source output) that
sounds kinda like the Zorlon Cannon's audio output. I don't have a
woggle, but I would think the M24 is somewhere between the Woggle and
the 149-1.
