Model 30 question answered

Yesterday Mark Landman posted a question on the Model 30. Phil Gallo's reply follows. "When time allows, could you explain the different "patch" configurations on the Model 30? I'm assuming they're different freq. mod. algorithms, but am curious if they're linear or exponential. Even better, if some audio exists it'd be nice to hear the Model 30 in action." External inputs to the module are understood as exponential (1 Volt per Octave). Internally when a VCO frequency modulates one of its companion oscillators, the modulation is linear, through-zero. When an oscillator balanced modulates a companion, this occurs as linear amplitude modulation. Sound clips are the obvious next step to help describe this module and are coming.
