This was shot at her home around Valentine's day. I visited her later that evening and while she's doing a real good job here, you can see she's a bit discombobulated. She was quite ill, but still found that smile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXz22-_Io-c The book Bebe reads from towards the end of this clip is amazing. A gift to her from her best friend poet/writer Anais Nin, it was hand bound and inked by Anais. It's a book of her erotic poetry with engravings by Nin's husband Ian Hugo, who was also known for his experimental film work.

The clip reminds me a little of clips of the elderly Louise Brooks being interviewed, a very elderly and as you say somewhat discombobulated person who nevertheless still has "it" in some way, some powerful charisma which is still evident. It's always terrible when a person like this passes, all those memories are gone, and a thread which connects us to awesome creativity from the past is broken. If you knew this person, Peter, then you must be having a hard time over this right now, and I'm very sorry to read about it. Norman, Thanks for this, really. I'm OK. I will miss her, sometimes a lot and your comment on charisma is just. But I've been through this many times in the past five years. John Waddell, Chuck (dog), my grandmother, my mom. You get a bit crusty after awhile. You find a place to go emotionally/mentally that sort of protects you. I'm OK. When I started making calls last week telling of what we were all sure was coming soon I got a bit crackly. Mort and Joan, people who've known her and loved her for so many years. That was the toughest part. The one I'm worried about is Leonard, Bebe's husband. He adored that woman and has been through a lot over the past 4 months. For people our age that would tough enough..Leonard is 92 years old. - P --- In PLAN_B_analog_blog@yahoogroups.com, "Norman Fay" <vietgrove@...> wrote: > > The clip reminds me a little of clips of the elderly Louise Brooks > being interviewed, a very elderly and as you say somewhat > discombobulated person who nevertheless still has "it" in some way, > some powerful charisma which is still evident. > > It's always terrible when a person like this passes, all those > memories are gone, and a thread which connects us to awesome > creativity from the past is broken.
