I can`t receive any trigger on the accent out and i have to remove the
cable which is going to the phase lock every time i want to sync it to
a new timing. Strange! Any ideas? I have the model 28 since some month
but it never behaves like it should. I bought it with the first couple
that were produced and delivered to AH.

Accent Out:

First thing to realize there are two types of output signals coming
from the Model 28.  Gates (triggers)and Controls Voltages (accent outs)

The Accent Outs are not gates - they're contrl voltage signals.  It's
a three volt high soft gate, designed to be used to directly accent
another note which is triggered by the main gate outputs. The Accent
Out is designed to be run into a second VC input of a Model 25 or
Doepfer or Analogue Systems VCA with multiple VC inputs per VCA, or
into a filter to create a subtle accent.

Notice how the Accent out signal is drawn on this diagram.  This is
almost exactly what it looks like.  Soft rise and decay and only three
volts in amplitude.  It's there to create an musical note accent, not
overwhelm any signal from it's original (non accented) level.

BTW - Just noticed there's a mistake on this dagram.  It shouldn't say
PLAN B MODEL 27 - it should say Model 25.

Now, some Envelope Generators will respond to a 3 volt signal for a
trigger or gate.  The Model 10 is one of them, but because the signal
coming out of the Accent is softened (meaning it's run through a
capacitor to lessen the hard corners), the devices being triggered
will be delayed slightly from anything triggered by the main outputs.

If you cannot drive your specific EGs from the Accent Outs, then use
an external device to square the signal off - like a comparator such
as the Plan B Model 17 or Doepfer A-167. You can also use the EOC gate
out of a Model 10, hbut make sre you set it to zero Rise. 

Why is it softened?  Because without ta it tended to have an audible
POP as it kicked in when used as a control signal into a VCA.

Phase Lock Input:

Not sure what you're saying here, but please try this and get back to
the group so I can answer to everyone in case others have this concern:

1) What are you putting into the Phase Lock input? A gate, an LFO -
what waveform, what module is it coming from, etc.

2) Is the PHASE LOCK Switch pointed down when you have an something
going into the PHASE LOCK input?  If not, it will not see the signal.
 Colnversly, if the PHASE LOCK switch is down, manual taps will not
have any effect in tempo.  The PHASE LOCK SWITCH acts as a selector to
allow either external triggers or manual taps.  You can't do both at
once, bt you can switch between one or the other easly by throughing
the switch before you do.

Get back to us with the asnwers to these two questions so I can focus
in on the specific issue you're having.
