Model 21 (Milton) update

2005-11-16 by (i think you can figure that out)

I have begun working on the model 21 project and it looks like
it's in for some healthy changes 'under the hood'.

Put in plain Irish, we're going to give the Model 21 a micro-p
engine. This is a very very good thing. Not only will it allow for a
great reduction of parts in the engine itself (a savings which will
be passed onto the end user), it will make incorporation of the
'skip step' functions many have requested quite easy and more
important -- it will allow for external MIDI control of all the panel
switches, so that set-ups could be recorded and CHANGED ON
THE FLY via an external midi connection. THAT was too good to
pass up. Not sure yet, but it *may* also be able to 'jump to stage
x' via midi. Imagine creating your own recorded rhythmical
patterns via midi commands!

For those of you who may be saying 'but it's not analog", I politely
ask you to put a lid on it! There's no such thing as an analog
sequencer!!!! They all create. manipulate and deal exclusvely
with high/low logic signals whether they're done with micro-p's,
CMOS, trannies or tubes for that matter. The stage attenuation
will still be analog on the Model 21. It will not go one pot for
everything, it will not store or internally generate voltages - there
will be no resolution issues because of that, no quantisiation
and no recall of sequences voltages, either. In short, the look
and over the current Milton will not change. This is just going to
make it less expnsive to buy, MUCH less expensive to build and
add some really incredible features. a win win win as far as I'm
concerned.

More details as they happen....we're beginning in earnest in
about a week.
