Sorry, didn't mean to imply that either one would be a substitute for the other in the general sense and what I should have written was 'the m30 looks to be a very fine substitute for my needs' which are, as you've so succinctly written, '"analog" features via digital methods'. I'd still love a 259e, but am not going to get one, and it looks as if the m30 will assuage that need quite nicely...
