Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2008 9:59 AMSubject: [PLAN_B_analog_blog] Plan B ELF LFOBecause it's coming up and you'll all see a picture of it soon, I will
give some details of our LFO which address questions which have arisen
on this list over the last couple of days:
1) It's an ELF module (only 4hp wide)
2) It will have multiple waveform outputs
3) It will have reset
4) It will have VC freq
5) It will track 1v/oct
6) It's range is huge - from 1 cycle every 30 seconds upwards to 10K with no range switch, so it can be considered more of a utility VCO.
7) It's all analog (not microC based)
8) It will not have PWM
The decision to go ELF I think was an obvious. Eurorack format has
it's share of LFOs. Making one only 4hp wide puts it in a unique market niche: an LFO function with limited real estate penalty. Imagine have 3 fully independent LFOs in the space of a single Analogue Systems RS80. Now we're talkin'...
Of course there are some concessions one must make based on the
limited real estate of 4hp. I felt VC freq and reset was essential.
PWM would be cool, but unfortunately there's no room for it.
That's it for now.
