After installing a new set of pinch rollers (thanks Streetly lads!) and adjusting (and re-adjusting as they worked in) them, the mellotron did indeed sound great -- although the guy playing it did have trouble remembering where a couple of the sounds were!
For "Help", you've nailed the sound selection, Clay: mandolin, Ian McDonald flute and boys' choir. And thanks for the compliment!
We also did "Watcher" and I used the standard Mk2 brass/3 violin but instead of bass accordian (which I don't have), I used the pipe organ, and trust me, if you have it and want a Genesis moment, try it out. Talk about balls.
If you do attempt it, please send all recordings to Mike Dickson. He collects them, you know.

Ricardo's SFX console sounded awesome last night. They did a half-
speed version of Help with a nice 'tron intro. Was that mandolin,
flutes and choir Rick? Beautiful whatever it was.
