A big amen to previous responses, and welcome to the sideshow! I can relate to the feeling of not wanting to wait any more and when I FINALLY (after lusting for 32 years) found mine a year and a half ago, I was fortunate enough to find a motivated seller and ended up spending far less than what I had decided I would spend for it to bring it home that day, which was actually a good bit more than what you ended up paying. So you aren't a sucker, just a motivated buyer who is going to give the Grail a good home. It's going to be harder and harder to find Mellotrons as the people who really love them slowly soak up all of the ones that are in circulation, and we'll all be watching musician obituaries in a few years to search for new acquisitions - (hmmm, with Maurice gone, is there a Mk II going on the market?) Anybody, serial #380, doesn't that predate the availability of the 8-voice choir? If so, that would mean that you have a newer tape set than the actual age of the instrument, too. Or perhaps you have that "Ted Turner Quire" instead... Jon E Salley MiloJohnson@...
