Dave et al,
My interaction with today's youths (through my own children) has shown me that, perhaps, they are nore savvy than previous generations. While I understand that my own children's eclectic tastes stem from me introducing them to a wide vaiety of tastes, I am constantly impressed with their friends wide pallette. Maybe it's the water here in New Jersey. I believe kids have a more balanced musical diet than I ever did growing up. They search the Internet, whether it be Pitchfork.com or browsing CDBaby.com or CMJ. As for today's bands:
Sufjan Stevens
Ratatat
The Notwist
Lali Puna
Nickel Creek
Chris Thile (a virtuoso)
The Flaming Lips (let's here it for the over-40-years-old guys who write lyrics that aren't angry)
M.I.A
......just to name a few

Download ITunes and listen to the channel called Aural Moon for all kinds of Prog Rock selections. They play a great selection of music. If you ever get to hear it, there is a band called Maxwell’s Demon that has a release called ‘Prometheus’ and its got a great selection of ‘tron throughout the album. Aural Moon plays some interesting German, Italian, and French selections (sometimes they are a bit outside my scope of interest). This is my first post and the catalyst for my entry is the discussion of today’s bands being uninspiring and ‘untalented’. I agree that today’s music is dead inside, which is apparent in the lyrics anyway. Its all so angry. Anyway, hello to all! My name is Dave and I’m a ‘Tron addict hoping to own my own number someday.
Happy New Year
