Chassis questions again

Chassis questions again

2019-10-01 by hide809rig169@...

Doing final fitting of body on chassis before paint and brackets welding.

Questions; Recommendation on ride height, chassis rail to ground (at present, 7 inches is this too high?).

Engine oil pan, transmission and bell housing to ground? At least 2 inches? This is critical as Car

has Ford 2.8 V6. Not much carburetor to hood clearance.

What size and type of sheet metal screws or? To use body to chassis?

Thank you in advance, this is of great help.

Morning, Steve,
I generally set the frame to ground height at 6.5”. That is on the VOLVO powered cars and the oil pan is not a problem, however the clutch slave cylinder is about 3.5”.
I recommend #14 truss head Stainless steel SMS’s.

Larry,
Thank you for all the help on this never ending project. Fitting engine again today. Any idea what Marcos used for the, "V6" engine mount? Round rubber mount, threaded stud at one end and sheet metal flnage at other with two mounting holes. Some type of English Ford? Marcos Spares lists the mount as; C27. Redid motor mounts from Marcos on chassis. Now using the Marcos Spares; C27 front mount. Transmission is now a Ford T5 rear mounts are Pontiac. We also made the rear leading links adjustable for differential pinion angle adjustment. Engine was nose low, transmission tail shaft was above front of engine. Pinion angle was not even close.
