Fuel Pump Stateside

Fuel Pump Stateside

2012-08-23 by MarkD

Hello all, I am nearly finished with the restoration and fired up the Essex V6 last night. The mechanioal fuel pump dried out and is now leaking fuel. Anyone in the USA have a spare or a local source for one?
Time is getting a little short but I can ship one over if needed.
Any help would be great, don't really want to wire up an electric unless I have to.

Thanks in advance!

When mine leaked it was the gasket under the glass bowl. Just cut another one out of rubber and it worked fine.

Don I wish that to be the case but it is not. It leaks from the pressed seam. I had already done a new gasket and cleaned the filter. thanks mark

Rockauto.com list a fuel pump for the 1973 Reliant Scimitar 3.0 V6 - Would that work for you? I think that's the Essex engine...

Looks like that would work but it is for the UK market and shipping to the USA is better than twice the pump cost :-(
Thanks for the lead.

Re: Fuel Pump Stateside

Didn't realise that Rockauto shipped from warehouses in the UK!! Used to them being a US company!

Could be the best you get though - prices in UK for those pumps seem to be around $45, and a glass top one is $105.

Found a used one on Ebay UK, currently no bids at $1.50, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Reliant-Scimitar-essex-V6-Fuel-pump-Capri-Granada-/230843737548?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35bf5be5cc#ht_500wt_1414

Seller only ships to UK though, but even if you won that, had it shipped to friendly UK person (my parents are there), and had them ship to the US for you, you're still looking at least $40 in shipping charges...
