Marcos, what else... !

Marcos, what else... !

2010-01-02 by dvandenzegel

Hello,

I am a new member, just joined the group. I live in Europe (Belgium)
I fancy Marcos cars since 1967... As a small boy I noticed them for the first time in a comic strip ! When I found out they actually had Volvo motorisation, I started to REALLY like them. (My parents had a Volvo, so that really was a good car !)
Now, after all these years, I decided to take action.
Is there maybe a left-hand drive car with Volvo-motorisation for sale ?
Yes, I know the question is a bit "silly": who wants to sell such a car ? But anyhow, you never know!
If there is some work to be done, that is no problem. I have "some" experience. On Volvos, that is...

Thank you,
and a good, healthy 2010 to all !

Hello Richard,

Thank you for your kind words and help !
I appreciate it very much !
And yes, I do know both these references !
Actually, if you look at the "redlinesportscars" site, the red 1800Gt sold in August.
And I nearly bought it. It was a matter of hours...
But it went to Greece...
What a pity !
;
So some patience is required.
And why the Volvo spec for the Marcos ?
I have some 20 years experience with Volvo cars.
Amongst others, I restored this one : http://www.volvoadventures.com/1800Cabriolet.html
myself.

So, I 'll have to be patient and look around a bit more !

Thank you !

Hello Dirk,

Many years ago I owned a 3L Volvo Marcos. I sold it to a then friend of
mine. I did hear that my old one is sitting in a garage somewhere in Surrey
and is in need of restoration. I believe it is still owned by the same
person, but do not know for sure. If you are interested in following this
up all I can offer you is a name and the registration. I have no details of
address or anything else. If this is of interest please let me have your
email address and I will send you what I know.

By the way it was a right hand drive and blue

Hi Dirk
I have a 1971 3L Volvo for sale, LHK 57J, in original tangerine colour.
It will need a respray and some mechanical work to get it through its MOT.
In the heyday of the MOC rallies, it used to be one of the best 3L Volvo's, although has deteriorated since then through lack of use.
I was planning to get the engine running sweetly and then advertise it on Ebay in the Spring. I have been in the Marcos Owners Club for 40 years, so it will be quite a wrench.
I also have a full set of MOC club magazines, from no 1 and a set from Club Marcos International - I will be advertising those, as there must be very few full sets, and they include a wealth of material.
If you want to email me privately, I can suppy further details on the car.
Best wishes
Steve Wright

Hi Mr Bruins,

I am in contact with mr Royson in Sweden.

As for the "NicoBaaas" car, that is already a long time on the site.
But a while ago I read it was sold...
And even if it isn't sold, if you see what
is the "asking-price", you will understand that this
is beyond my budget.

So I am patiently looking for the right car !
:-)))

Bets regards and thank you for your remarks !

Hello Mr Wright,

I don't know if you got my reply...
I was thrown off the site while just after writing
and sending it... Somthing with the server, it said.

So again:
Yes, I would appreciate it very much if you could give me some more information on your car, should you decide to sell.
I would like it best if there could also be a few pictures.
They say much more than words.
In my view, rebuilding the motor isn't too bad. If it still turns, that is. I have experience with B18s and B20s. So B30 is not very different.
I think the state of the chassis is more important.
AND it is my experience that a car should be as original as possible.
That gives the best opportunity for getting things OK again.

So, if you feel like selling after such a long "affair with the car,
please send some more information.
You can send it to " zegellap@...".
Should you have an idea about the price you would like
to get for it, please let me know.

Thank you !

Dirk Van den Zegel

Re: Marcos, what else... !

Hello Mr Semler,

Thank you for answering my post !

Off course I 'd like to hear more about this car !
You never know !
But off course, it would be best if there is also
a way to get in contact with the owner.
IF this person would want to sell it, off course !
In that case, it would be best to have an email or something.
A number plate isn't very helpful to me.
That doesn't mean anything to me...
(I don't know if there is a way in the UK to get information
about the owner of a car with a certain number plate. Guess that is
only for police !)

So if you have any more information: thanks in advance !

Send it please to zegellap@...

Thank you,

Dirk Van den Zegel

Dirk,

Sorry, that is all I have. It was a long time ago, and I only know about it
because someone mentioned it to me when I started looking for the one I
have now. If I find any more I will let you know

You could try asking the MOC or the IMOC if he is a member, but I suspect
not.

Regards
Geoff

RE: [MarcosManiacs] Marcos, what else... !

2010-01-04 by lapere ann

Hello,
As already mentioned on the goups pages,
I would like to have/get more information.
Maybe some pictures.
It sure is a plus if a car is as much as possible "as per original" !
So I am looking forward to further message(s) !

Thank you !

Dirk

Best wishes

Regards

Geoff

Hello Richard,

And yes, I do know both these references !
Actually, if you look at the "redlinesportscars" site, the red 1800Gt sold
in August.
And I nearly bought it. It was a matter of hours...
But it went to Greece...
What a pity !

So some patience is required.

And why the Volvo spec for the Marcos ?

I have some 20 years experience with Volvo cars.

Amongst others, I restored this one :

myself.

So, I 'll have to be patient and look around a bit more !

Thank you !

Hello,

I am a new member, just joined the group. I live in Europe (Belgium)
I fancy Marcos cars since 1967... As a small boy I noticed them for the
first time in a comic strip ! When I found out they actually had Volvo
motorisation, I started to REALLY like them. (My parents had a Volvo, so
that really was a good car !)
I have "some"
experience. On Volvos, that is...

Thank you,
and a good, healthy 2010 to all !
