Some new photos

2006-05-29 by Hampton Peterson

Hi all,
just added some photos of the restored chassis and engine installation
on 1970 #3M 5463. I assembled the engine/bellhousing/transmission
alone as well as doing the installation (with the help of my engine
lift, of course). All the brake lines and engine cooling (radiator and
hoses) were finished today. I'll post some more pics as it progresses.
The body is going to be stripped of paint in the next week or so....
Stay tuned, I thought there needed to be some new posts !!

Cheers,
Hampton

Hampton,
Great job! You have more patience than I. Do yourself a favor.... make sure the top plate on the gearbox is well sealed and tight and make sure all fasteners on the OD are tight. Believe me it is a pain to get to them after the car is assembled. MIne still leaks out of the hole where the shifting mechanism enters the gearbox.

Don,
thanks for the info. I'll plan on tightening every fastener from the
front of the car to the rear before I put the body back on. It sure is
easy when there isn't all that fiberglass in the way!
Cheers,
Hampton

points vs electronic upgrade

2006-06-04 by Bob Magnotti

Have any listers installed or have experience with the
upgrade to the Lucas distributor to get rid of the
points. I need to upgrade as the twin Weber 40 set up
on the Kent Crossflow makes points adjustment a real
goat roping.

Also what upgrade needs to be purchased to continue to
use the exixting tach. I have heard of some of the
systems not working with the set up on the British
Lucas system.

Thanks,
Bob Magnotti

Any suggestions for the Essex V6 as well? I would like to change to an
electronic system and Pertronix does not list an application for this
engine.

Hi Bob,

Did you checked on the site from Aldon (http://www.aldonauto.co.uk/)?

FORD V6 (ESSEX TYPE)
105FV1 A non-vacuum distributor to suit most tuned V6 engines fitted
with a modified camshaft such as Piper 270, 285, Kent V62/ V65.

105FV2 A vacuum version of the 105FV1 distributor which is more
suitable when using a Holley carburettor or whenever the standard
carburettor is used together with the standard or mild camshaft.
N.B. In both the 105FV1 and 105FV2 supply difficulties can result in
the unit being either Motorcraft or Bosch. You may need to specify a
Motorcraft unit for clearance if using a Holley carburettor.

I am going to install an Aldon distributor 105FV1 in combination
with a Kent V63 cam and a triple Weber DCNF40 set.

I bought the parts at www.burtonpower.com in the UK. They have a lot
of knowledge for your question.

Good luck,

Twan
