Hey Group,
Another inquiry about rear axle source...........
The rear axle on my car has the #'s...105E 4025B and 9J30 cast into
the carrier housing. I have the rear housinG torn apart and the #'s
9-34 are stamped into the pinion gear and what I am assuming is a part
# that reads 2930E-4610-F. From the 9-34 I am taking that it is a 3.77
ratio rear end,the number of teeth on the ring and pinion confirm
that. Is this a Capri or Cortina rear axle?? I have been told from the
cortina group that the 2 rear ends were pretty much identical up to a
certain point.
                          Cheers Dave #5511

Hi Dave and Maniacs,

I just found a letter from Marcos Cars Ltd. dated 25 June 1971 to the
original owner of my car (3M5759). It states: "The rear axle and
rear brakes are Ford Corsair 2000 with a ratio of 3.77:1". I checked
my ratio and it is in fact 3.77:1. Guess that solves that part of
the mystery.

Now.....I found brake shoes at NAPA for a 4 cyl Capri that fit
perfect. Are the Cortina, Capri, and Corsair axles all basically the
same (disregarding the different ratios available)?? Would the
seals, etc. be interchangeable?

I'll figure this out yet! I'm on the Capri, Cortina, Reliant
Scimitar, and Tvr lists so somebody must know the answers.

Don
I but new seals and brake parts (all) in my car from a 1970 Capri, several years ago. All parts fit and have worked! I'm think the world wide parts bin from Ford applies in this case, with only housing having some difference. The next time you drive past Mill Valley, please stop in so I can enjoy your car!

 Don,
Can you post the parts # for the brake shoes?
