Hi Don,
I didn't want to wait for Gary Diver to organize a shipment so I got a pair
of alloy hubs from Merlin Motorsport in England. I ordered them on 29th May
and delivery took about a week. They were £79.50 each with a 4.25" PCD, and
delivery to Canada was £40.00. They also supplied new studs of the original
size, 7/16unf in 1 3/4" at £1.45 each, pressed in to the hubs free of
charge. Unfortunately they don't ship to the US. Something to do with
insurance. All-in-all, including shipping, taxes and duty, the end cost was
around US$200 apiece, which is not that much less than Dave Bean's price. If
you're willing to wait, Gary Diver would probably be more reasonable though
I didn't get a price or delivery estimate.
Unfortunately I'm still waiting for my wheels because they had a quality
control problem with one and had to wait for a new shipment to come in.
They're expected next week.
I went with 17" wheels because I like the way they look on one of the later
Marcos models. I also reasoned that if I went with a 16" wheel, I'd have to
get 205/50ZR16 tires to give me a diameter close to 24". I compared that
tire with the 205/45ZR17 tire and figured the sidewall thickness
differential would have a marginal effect. I feel every piece of string on
the road with my 25 year old Michelin ZXs now, so how much harder could a 45
profile tire be. Time will tell.

Paul,
Have you ordered the alloy hubs? From who? 17" is big! Do you
think the ride will be comfortable? 17" doesn't leave much sidewall
for flexibility. I'm thinking of the 16" but need to wear out these
tires first.
Keep us posted, I'm really curious as to how it will ride. I know
it will look great!!
