Hi folks, YAH 95J That's the original plate # that was on my 1971 Marcos in the UK before it was imported to the US. I know the "J" means 1971. Can any of the UK folks tell me what the other letters/numbers mean?? Also, can any info be found out about previous owners or locations by using this plate number?? Hope you all had a good holiday and "best wishes" to all in the new year! Don Lattimer #3m5759 Willits, CA, USA

Hi Don, The AH bit identifies the car as being first registered in Peterborough in East Anglia. You MIGHT be able to contact the DVLA and get the old log books for the car (I did this way back when I got my car and it had addresses for all the previous owners). Marcos Heritage can sell you the build log for your car which (I understand) often lists the original owner, but I've never parted with the cash to get one for my car. Don,
The DVLA is our licensing authority for all
vehicles in the UK and to obtain all history, that
they have on that vehicle, it can be obtained for a \ufffd5

Jac, Could be something although you state the plate is YHA 95J and mine is YAH 95J. I have a letter from the factory which says the rear end is from a Corsair. The brake drums were re-drilled to match the front bolt pattern. The UK owners I know of are: 1. Peter Jackson (West Winch, Norfolk) 2. E.A. Perry (Norfolk) 3. David Gibbs (Cranfield) 4. D.E. Hancox (Shirley) Ring any bells?? Also it appears that John Allen was the dealer?? His address was Great Waldingfield, Sudbury, Suffolk. How bizarre - Jac, have you ever acquired any Marcos literature (club magazines, etc) from other owners? I'm always tucking little items like this in my magazines. Interesting to note that the first 3 owners are both East Anglia (as the reg, which makes sense). Cranfield is not far away, being near Milton Keynes (slightly North West of London), but there are 4 Shirleys ranging from Southampton in the South to Derbyshire in the north). Don, if you need any help (eg UK cheques or anything) getting the DVLA documents, let me know. Ah, right. That's in Birmingham in the midlands (about 60 miles from Milton Keynes, at a guess, as the crow flies).
