Re: [MarcosManiacs] (no subject)

I appreciate very much your concern, Hal. However, I am already preparing to ride a bike if I must, to acquire my Marcos GT.
As a matter of fact, while a member of my family is away I will be using an alternate car for work during the next couple of months and this will be a great time to start the process!
Beyond that, I can afford the Marcos GT and the del sol with credit until such time that I sell my del sol.
Have you any idea how erratic a del sol might be until you get it fixed up? Well, I've put over $1,000.00 into me little bat since purchasing it with all sorts of work to bring him under control.
Although the pictures that I have recently taken of him are underdeveloped (I waited too long in the evening with only ASA 200 Film but will make another attempt soon).

He's a clean little bat in topnotch condition and available for $6,000.00! Svelte will out perform a nice ol' Austin Healey 3000 with 0-60 in 9.3 seconds. His top-end isn't that great (at between 112 to 116 mph) but there isn't anything more exhilarating than zipping in between all the traffic on the interstate between 80 to 110 mph to dry him off after a wash. Svelte has great acceleration in all ranges except for the top end.
He gets 29 mpg+ around town and 39+ mpg on the highway. I've made one error while attempting to go around a sharp interstate exchange curve [I mean "sharp" when I say "sharp" at around 80 to 90 mph on a rain-slick road and had his rear slip out from under me but I made two very slight counter-steering moves and he straightened up quickly and true in an instant or two. [When you overseer a car on a sharp corner, if you are a sports car driver, you will know that you must expect "one" for it to overseer in the opposite direction and "two" to be prepared to counter your first reaction after it does that in order to bring yourself out of jeopardy]. That should be an "instantaneous" reaction with any good sports car driver.
Svelte can handle almost as good as a Marcos GT and probably better than a Corvette or an ol' Jaguar XKE. But, in all honesty, I prefer a rear-wheeled car. Svelte isn't really, in my opinion, a "true" sports car but he sure the heck mimics one very well!
I'm going through with my objective, Hal. If I can't have my Marcos GT I just as well go ahead and die; ok?
But, again, I appreciate your concern for this ol' bat.
Best Regards,
Svelte
