Amazing rally/ride!!

Amazing rally/ride!!

2002-07-30 by Don Lattimer

Hi all,

On July 20 I was invited to join the Autozotica summer cruise up thru the
California "gold country". It was a 250 mile, all-day trip with a stop-over
at a casino for lunch and a show. I have to say it was the most awesome
ride I have ever been on! Millions of $$ of cars including a new Maserati,
a BMW Z-8, a new Lamborghini Murcielago, etc.

We went on backroads that I didn't know existed and there was some
"spirited" driving to say the least! Imagine doing 110mph and having a
Dodge Viper (with nitrous) go past you at 160mph. If that wasn't cool enuf,
imagine a Diablo VT passing you next (rapidly catching the Viper). Unreal!!

Imagine 96 exotics pulling into one gas station. Made their day for sure!

The cars: 4 Cobras, 17 NSXs', 1 Alfa Montreal, 6 BMWs', 6 Panteras', 17
Vipers, 19 Ferraris (including a 1972 250), 7 Lamborghinis', 11 Lotii (1
Elise), 5 Maseratis' (a Bora and a new 3500), 1 Panoz Esperante, 1 TVR
Cerbera (only one in the States), and 1 Marcos (ME!!).

Got lots of comments, lots of interest, people wanting to sit in it, etc.,
etc. Great day.

When the inevitable question was asked: "how much does one of these cost?",
I had the distinct pleasure of telling folks that I paid $8000 for mine last
July. Of course I didn't share that info with everyone. Some folks just
wouldn't understand........................... Great group of people
though. Only a few snobs in the whole bunch.

For a slide show of the whole trip, etc.(534 pics) go to:

http://www.autozotica.com/az_main/SC02/sc02_gallery/index.htm

My Marcos is on pages 5, 10, and 16 I believe with the Marcos logo also on
page 5.

For a list of participants go to:

http://www.autozotica.com/az_main/SC02/az_sc02_attendee.htm

They're having another ride in the fall tentatively scheduled for the
Monterey Bay area. Ready to go Mike?? They wouldn't believe 2 or 3 or even
4 of us!!

Have a great day! I'm just going to sit back and re-live it
again.............................

I always wanted live in California ........what a thrill of a life
time to cruise along amongst cars of that caliber........but the great
thing of it is , is that the Marcos looks right at home with the high
rollers.........Cheers Dave #5577

I concur. Last weekend, the local Ventura CA British car club hosted our
annual local all British show. We planned for 100 cars. At 11:00 there
were 120 cars entered on the field. The cars didn't stop coming until
12:00. And the parking lot was full of spectators with every manor or
British car/truck and taxi. It was crazy, but what a great time we all
had. California may have its faults....it just doesn't stop us from
having a good time.
