Clutch system HELP!!!!!!!

Clutch system HELP!!!!!!!

2002-06-11 by Jeff Caraway

Hi All,
Well... the very first project I try to undertake this spring and I'm
getting no where fast!
I'm trying to replace a leaking clutch slave cylinder, the slave
cylinder hose, a gooped up clutch master cylinder, and its hose.
So far though, I can't find a single friggin' part that I need for this
simple task. How FRUSTRATING!!!!

Anyway, I have uploaded two pictures of my clutch slave cylinder to the
photos section here on the Yahoo group.
It is an odd looking thing that seems unusual in the way it works. There
are no numbers or markings on it anywhere.
It has two rods coming from either end of it, a thicker one and a
thinner one. The thicker one mounts to a bracket that is connected to
the engine mount. It is stationary and holds the cylinder parallel to
the ground with the smaller rod facing the rear of the car. The smaller
rod connects to the clutch lever arm. When the pedal is pressed, the
cylinder actually pulls the clutch lever arm forward (unlike most slave
cylinders which push).

Please, everyone, give it a look and let me know if you've seen anything
like it.
I have this feeling that it is from a European only car (Ford Cortina?)
that was never imported to the US since my foreign parts experts can't
track it down.
These same experts can not source the master cylinder or slave cylinder
hoses either. Apparently they are bigger than most Girling hoses used
over here. They want $150.00 for the master cylinder which they think is
a match.
I'm pretty sure that none of these parts are "home grown" as there are
no signs of modification, and the hose and master cylinder even say
Girling on them!

The clutch master cylinder is marked: Girling 3/4, 8S4 (it is possible
that the 8 may be a B).
The hose for this is marked: P(?)E 3/16 68 27(?) SAE 40PI GIRLING (I
put ? after those numbers or letters I am unsure about).

I don't have the slave cylinder hose with me to give the numbers off of
it.

Any help would be most appreciated!!!!
