New Tires

New Tires

2001-08-29 by Don Lattimer

Hi all,

Update to the tire conquest: After much searching I finally
located "H" rated tires in the size I wanted (195/70HR13). Pirelli
no longer carries the P4000 in 185/70HR13, only the P400's that
are "S" or "T" rated. Cooper carries a 195/70R13 but it is "T" rated
also.

Maxxis Tire out of Georgia- http://www.maxxis.com (they are well
known for motorcycle tires) had what I wanted in their Ontario, CA
warehouse. I received them last week, had them mounted and balanced,
and took off for Monterey, CA. After a 900 mile trip, I am more than
impressed! The trip included a ride up Rt. 1 from San Francisco to
Ft. Bragg which is all two-lane curves 300 ft. up from the ocean.
Tires handled like a dream; no squeal or protest. Out on the highway
a very comfortable ride. I highly reccomend them if you are in need
of tires.

The kicker????????? $38/each !!

Email me for contacts, locations, etc. I am not affiliated with
Maxxis in any form.

Don,

Do you know if those tires will fit the standard factory Marcos wheel?

Bob,

Yes, that's what I have. Check out the photo that Mike posted on the
second page of photos entitled "Marcos Gathering". That's me and the
car(and Tisha). Overall diameter is 24.2". Fills the wheelwell
nicely with no interference anywhere.
