Re: Headlamps/Donny/Victor

2002-02-08 by a5h_pm

Hi there Don/Ron!

I just want to clarify something (I am not refering specifically to
Marcos here). Any headlight designed to point to the left can and
should only be used on a right hand drive car or cars driving on the
left hand side of the road, and converseley headlamps which point
right are for left hand drive cars or cars driven on the right lane.
Placing one of each lamps into a car will result in one beam blinding
oncoming traffic. To give you an example, have you ever driven past a
parked car facing into the oncoming traffic with their dipped lights
on? blinding! The solution to all this, is to do what us Europeans
have to do when we are country hopping. This is predominently moving
between the UK and other European countries as we drive on the left
and they drive on the right. We have to cover up a proportion of the
light (the portion that shines across the road), or use light beam
deflectors to switch the beam. The lights themselves are marked up
with the area that would need to be covered or have deflectors
fitted. I hope this is of help. I will try and find a web link which
explains what I am trying to say more clearly in the mean time!
