RE: [MarcosManiacs] Headlamps/Donny/Victor

Maniacs . . .
Rectangular headlamps were fitted to the Mantis. The European version is for LHD vehicles, with the low beams dipping to the right (curb) side. The British version is for RHD vehicles, dipping to the left (the oncoming lane, for us). The parking light bulbs were not used - they just plugged the hole in the reflector. If you have one of each, mount the European one on the left and the English one on the right, then they will both dip to the centre of the lane you are in!
You can get new rectangular units from an outfit in England. I don't have the details with me, but if someone could look in a past issue of Torque, the details are in a letter that I wrote a few years ago.
Join the MOC now, so that you too can get Torque magazine and have this sort of info at your fingertips.

Subject: [MarcosManiacs] Headlamps/Donny/Victor

Hi all,

I'm still trying to get one of the rectangular headlamps from the
previous owner of my car. Thought I had both, but not so.

Odd thing about the headlamps: I have two with "European" molded
into the glass and one without(I suspect the one I'm trying to get
from the PO is "without" also). One of the European style has a hole
for a "parking lamp"(in the US)and the "without" one also has a hole
for a parking lamp. The parking light bulbs, etc. are wired into the
car and were just hanging there. So.......I now have one "european"
headlamp and one of the others on the car(so I have parking lamps).

And.....I can't figure out which is left or right. The glass is
molded differently with a curved area on one side. Does that go to
the inside of the car or the outside??

When, and if I receive the other lamp I will let you guys know and we
can go from there!
