    Wow! That's quite interesting info!
Unfortunately, I don't have anything to add, but wanted to remark on how cool it is that these cars have led such interesting lives.

Most MGs, Triumphs, etc. just don't have the history that most Marcos cars do (unless they were raced or something).
I think this only reinforces the importance of keeping track of chassis numbers as well as owners so we can keep the rich history of these cars alive.

    Just my 2cents...
    Jeff

    Hello group,
This is my first post and it is going to be a bit long winded but
I think some of you guys might be interested.
    I recently acquired a 1969 GT(licensed as a 1967, possibly to slip
by U.S. import laws or to get under vintage racing rules),commission
    #5577 RHD.It is a steel chassis.
It was licensed as far back as 1988 by a Dr. Steven Knee of New
Mexico as a 1967 Marcos GT V8.The commission #5577 tells us that it is
but a lowly 4 cylinder........but it has the Rover 3.5 litre V8 in it.
the doctor , who is now deceased
raced the car in the Rocky Mountain Vintage Series .I have a log book
with 4 dates from 1987 and 3 dates from 1990 showing the car entered.
The car was red it wore # 26 (maybe jog somebodys memory)
The motor bears #92407 both on block and heads. This doesn't match
any serials I have been able to find for a Rover 3.5 I have been told
that it is a pre-production rover using the Oldsmobile castings(not
cofirmed)the block has the British Leyland swirl logo stamped either
end of the C.R. 9.25:1..the trans is a 4 spd with a finned alloy
    casing.
casting #594757 a stamped #43113715b.. the bell housing has a casting
    #591357.
The car arrived with the engine in the trunk. I have loosely
installed the motor along with the trans and everything fits...
The only mods that I can see were done were motor mounts, 2 notches
(reinforced)in the lower frame rails for exhaust clearance and a 10"
long by 3" deep recess into each foot box for header clearance.
Fhe f'glass work is well done. The frame work is also well done. The
motor mounts are a bit funky but not bad.
So here comes the intrigue..............could this be one of the two
    fabled prototypes built by Marcos?
    - the engine vintage gives credence.
    - the quality of the conversion gives credence or a very
    competent former owner.
    - what is the trans (it has been summised it is a getrag)
Wishful thinking I know. In any case the car is undergoing a frame off
resto....engine is being built & blueprinted hopefully 250+hp
(webers, ported&polished, balanced etc.)it will be British Racing Green
and I will take it to Mosport (the canadian boys will know )
Thanks for your patience any info you might have would be greatly
appreciated. Maybe you know somebody who raced with the Doc and knew
the car. Possibly only the factory knows the real story.
    ciao for now
    2m5577 Dave Toronto
Oh p.s. That same Dr. owned some other interesting
    pieces...........
    -Simca Abarth 1of3or4
    -Jensen CV8 1 of 2 w/4spd
-another Abarth w/factory twin cam 1000cc from factory
    Hmmmmmm..............makes you wonder.... Eh!
    ciao.
