RE: [MarcosManiacs] Real glass Rear Window

2010-04-26 by John Sutton

Larry,

I have a glass Marcos rear window, however the problem is that it does not
fit the aperture on the early cars as quality control was poor.

Both the glass and Perspex windows are available in the UK.

I ended up having to fit a Perspex one in my car.

John

Give us a price.

I would like to have one as a pattern for a mold to make the perplex rear
screens. I had a glass one in the early 70's that is in a car in Michigan,
but lost the mold in a move and haven't been able to get in touch with the
owner af the car.

regards,

Larry

I have, perhaps, the only real glass, rear window for a Marcos in the USA. I
bought the rear window from the Marcos club in the UK. I don't know if they
are still selling/making them or not. I was told that the glass windows were
expensive because the sharp curvature on the ends resulted in a large number
of these rear screens being broke during the manufacture. Regardless, I have
a glass rear window on my 1966 Marcos 1800 GT that I am thinking about
selling. I was told that this rear window fit all of the Marcos cars from
1963 up through the 1970's and perhaps beyond. I am going to make my Marcos
into a vintage race car and I am going back to a plexiglass rear window to
reduce the weight. Email me at mikedenman@sbcgloba l.net <http://l.net/> if
you have any interest.
